Leadership Planning Update

Updated Tuesday August 05, 2008

Tom Price, Leadership Chairman

As many of you know, our church planning year starts in September and runs through the following August. We have set it up that way because many public schools start in the fall, and most people are back from vacation and ready for new programs to begin. Since the recent election of Elders, we have begun planning for the coming year. As the Leadership Chairman for next year, I wanted to give everyone a "heads up" as to the planning process we are following.

A variety of activities have taken place this summer to get ready for the fall:

  • The Elders met frequently to develop their vision for C4.
  • The staff had three off-site planning sessions. Their input was then coordinated with the Elders’ vision.
  • On July 25-26, we had a leadership retreat entitled “IGNITE” with all of the church leaders. In those sessions, we began detailed planning based on the direction provided by the Elders and staff.
  • The Congregational Meeting on August 24 will be the official kickoff for the fall programs where the entire membership will be briefed.
I can tell you that great ideas are in the mill.  I know that the C4 leadership is committed to this being a great year for C4, in which we grow in our faith, grow in our support for each other, and, in turn, improve our outreach to others.

We already have a lot going for us:
  • A large, strong Eldership of Godly men: This coming year we will have seven Elders (four new ones, one returning, and two continuing).
  • A full staff: For the first time in many years, we are at full staff. We have already seen things start to move at a faster pace and we look forward to more leadership from the staff in the future.
  • A strong, committed membership: The Unleashed campaign was one manifestation of that commitment. In recent years, we have seen many changes. In every case, the membership has supported, adapted, and, as appropriate, constructively pushed back.
  • Campus upfit: We are starting to see some results from our Unleashed campaign. Assuming we continue to meet our giving commitments, there are many more improvements in the mill.
There is still time to get involved! If you want to contribute to the final stages of our planning and be part of a successful coming year, please see any Elder or one of the staff.
