Feeding the Homeless at Moore Square
We’ll be feeding the homeless at Moore Square on May 30 and need your help providing and serving food. We'll need chicken (or money to buy it), hot dogs, meatballs or meat loaf, green beans, corn, lasagna, macaroni and cheese, cut-up cantaloupe (or other seasonal fruit), apples and bananas. Anyone wishing to donate cash should give it to Bradley Bennett on Sun., May 24 so he can place an order for chicken. Team Haiti 2010

Steve Martin

Not afraid of a life-changing adventure? Looking for a way to obey The Great Commission? Then consider joining the team taking advantage of the March 2010 mission trip to Grand Goave, Haiti. Experience a short-term, cross-cultural work crusade hosted by Lifeline Christian Mission Lifeline Christian Mission(www.lifeline.org).

The reasons for going are compelling to say the least. In addition to enhancing your personal spiritual growth, you will make a difference in so many lives as you become a witness of Christ’s love to the Haitians. See first hand what life is like in the poorest country in the Western hemisphere. You will be amazed at the abject poverty, yet have your faith strengthened as you witness their love and devotion to Jesus Christ. Your worship experience with the nationals will challenge and deepen your faith.

The team will leave Raleigh on March 4, 2010 and return on March 13, 2010. For 10 days we will be a hands-on team participating in various activities including such things as personal witnessing, prayer and sharing with the Haitians in the village of Grand Goave. There will be opportunities to teach children, work in the medical or dental clinics, or share in the physical projects such as home construction, painting, electrical work, masonry, carpentry, plumbing, cooking, distributing food and clothing, cleaning and much more. Lifeline will find things for you to do that correspond with the skills you bring with you.

Looking for someone to talk to that has “been there, done that”?  Anyone on the 2008 team would be glad to share his or her experience and further brief you on what to expect. Those team members were Tiffany and Bonnie Hall, Tom Price, and Craig and Steve Martin.

If you have an interest in participating on Team Haiti 2010, please contact Steve Martin at 919-424-7798 or by e-mail at smartin147@nc.rr.com.

Summer Missions in Salamanca, Spain

Our missionaries in Spain, Sophie and Jesse Bentley, will be working with Salamanca Life '09, an evangelistic campaign among European university students this summer in the city of Salamanca. If you’re a college student who has not made plans for the summer, or if you are open to seeing what God would have you do this summer, here is a great opportunity! The campaign runs from July 8-18, and it will be a great, short trip for students who want a missions experience but don't have the time to commit to a whole summer. The campaign will include students from all across Spain and the rest of Europe. If you are interested, or know of anyone who may be interested, please contact Jesse at jesse@globalscopespain.org.

Letter From Betsy Clement
Dear C4 Family and Friends,

Can you believe I finally have a date! Unfortunately it is not some tall, good-looking and very rich man. I have just received word that my open-heart surgery is scheduled for Wed., May 6, at Wake Memorial Hospital in Raleigh. If all goes well, I should be in the hospital 5-7 days and be back hopefully in six weeks.

Please pray that I will be back sooner, even if I can’t drive. Maybe walking to work will count as my exercise! I know you will be patient with our volunteers while I am away. I feel very fortunate to have Dennis Day, Lorena DeBerry and John Garrett helping part time in my absence. Dennis will be here on Mondays and Thursdays. He will be doing the weekly report, updating the database, and doing the prayer requests. John will be here Fridays to print the bulletins. Craig Osterhus has offered to answer the phones on Tuesdays.

There are a few things you can do to help while I am recuperating:

   1. Pray hard for them and me.

   2. Lorena will be doing the bulletins, C4 News and power point on Wednesdays. The deadline for submitting articles is Wednesday at noon so please remember to get them in on time. If not, please be patient because they will have to wait until the next week. When submitting an article for the bulletin or C4 News it will be helpful if you would put “for the bulletin, etc.” in the subject line, and please submit it in paragraph form. Craig will still be editing and proofing everything that goes out, but do not send it to him -- continue sending everything to betsy@c4church.com.

   3. Before I leave, there will be copies of an up-to-date members and friends list available outside my office door. Please pick up one so you will have the latest information. Since the volunteers are only going to be here part time on their days to work and will be very busy getting their particular tasks done, it will save them a lot of time if they do not continuously have to look up numbers.

   4. Give Renee lots of hugs. She will need them!

   5. Feel free to leave messages on the phone because someone will be checking my voice mail.

This has been a long time coming, and I really appreciate the love and encouragement you have given me all along. I would like to especially thank Steve Martin for offering to take me for my pre-op appointment Monday morning. This was one of my biggest worries -- how to get there and then find the right place to go. Steve, you are a true servant of God and I thank you over and over again.

Renee will keep Beth Hanson updated, and she will let everyone know how I am.

Thanks again for your prayers. I love you all!

As I am due to deliver my second child at the end of May, there will not be a newsletter over the summer months. Please look to the Sunday bulletin, C4 News and www.c4church.com for upcoming events and other important information.
